Enhance chat to have Twitch-like qualities for gameday
Twitch is an Amazon platform for people to watch other people play video games and "chat" with everyone else watching at the same time. As cringy as that is, you replace the "video game" part with "BYU game" and it works. You could even monetize it similarly to how Twitch monetizes it (donors and/or subscribers have access to various things like icons that represent something).
The sarcasm/humor of this board seems like it would play well with the features and flow.

Show votes on the index
Kind of like reddit, I wish in the thread index, ex:
http://www.cougarboard.com/board/message.html?id=18995404
that I could see how many times each post/subpost has been liked (and also "like" posts from there, since it feels pointless to click on a "(nm)" one). Cheers!

New Subcategory for U sports fans to post in.
Not Ute Smack, since they won;t go there. Give them an entire subcategory to post Utah Football/Hoops in, rather than using the NCAA Football/Basketball subthreads.
And let's call it the West Concourse.

Add a scoring system for posts that allows us to mark posts as serious discussion vs sarcasm or jokes.
There's nothing wrong with funny, sarcastic, inside joke type of comments on posts. However, it would be awesome to be able to see the posts that have been marked by others as serious responses versus comments meant to be funny. Sometimes I just want to read the funny comments. Sometimes I just want to see the posts that have real on topic responses. Would this be possible to add?

allow for adding/updating user notes from more locations
Maybe I'm dense and missing it, but it seems like the only place I can add/edit user notes is when I'm viewing one of their posts on the main board. That is rarely where I am when wanting to update notes. It seems logical that I should be able to view/edit notes from user profile page. I'm often viewing BM from user when I'd like to update notes and I have to get to their bio page, then go to recent posts, then click on recent post before I can update notes.

Color Code thread lines so it's easier to follow long discussion threads
When a thread takes off and has a lot of replies, and then a lot of replies to the replies, it's difficult to see what comments are responding to. Color coding the thread lines by response level would help immensely.

User notes on ignore page
Allow users to have "notes to self" on the ignore page, to more easily remember why they ignored someone

Be able to have one pardon per year
Pretty self explanatory. Barring a bannable offense, using a pardon, with certain conditions, on any suspension each year.

put a slider in the "categories" area to filter messages by join date
To help filter trolls (who have been on the board only for a little while), put a slider that allows you to select a cutoff date after which posts are filtered out. . .e.g. only posters who joined more than two weeks ago are shown. etc. You could even have two sliders, to create a "window." That way, people who didn't want to see posts by older dudes and young bucks wouldn't have to.

I'm sure this has been brought up before but you should be able to see who answered what in a poll.
Pretty self explanatory. you could click on a specific part of the poll that shows who posted in the various categories.

You know how you can look at *on the message board* specifically polls and/or polls you've voted in?
We should also be able to see the newest polls we haven't voted in.

Off season "fantasy" football games
Allow the creation of virtual teams where CBer's can group up and play against each other--with some prize near the end of summer for the winningest team.
Purpose: give CBers something to do/talk about during the summer months.
Cons: More work than just a feature addition.

Non-donors can't ignore anyone
Make the ignore feature a donor perk.

Make the favorites list easier to delete old favs by putting the "delete" box somewhere near the top of the page instead of at the very bott
Make it easier to delete posts from the favorites list by placing the "delete" box somewhere near the top of the page rather than at the very bottom. For people who have several hundred favs this would make it easier to delete the posts we're no longer interested in.

Keep some statistics about POTD. Who has the most POTD and the most POTD nominations in a year or all time.
I've always been curious who has had the most POTD.

Have more posts per page
As described here : http://www.cougarboard.com/board/message.html?id=10993055
There may be cons to this I'm unaware of, but it would sure increase visibility of past posts.

Have a way to access more of the "top posts"
have a way to see more of the "top posts" (either have a separate tab with the next top 20-50) or have a "more" button at the bottom of the "top posts" tab?
Then you could either have it reset daily (I think like what "top posts" does, right?) or have an algorithm, so that whether they show up is an algorithm that takes time of first post and time of last post into account. (e.g. (number of views/time since original post)+(total number of posts/average time since posting) or some such thing.)
